4 TYPES OF STD TESTS COMPARED

On this page, we take a closer look at each of them, detailing the pros & cons of each. We also show you where you can get STD tested in Dallas.

Good luck on your test!

1. Home STD Test Kits

A home STD test kit is the most convenient STD testing method possible.

You do not have to see a doctor or travel to a clinic.

In addition, testing with a home kit is very affordable, making it a great option for those on a tight budget.

But there are a couple of drawback you need to be aware of.

Here are the pros and cons of home STD testing.

Pros

Anonymity

With a home STD test, you can easily keep your anonymity secure.

Additionally, most home test kit providers send the kit in a non-recognizable box, so no one in your home will know.

Cost

No other STD testing method is less expensive than a home test.

Home tests cost as little as $50 for a single STD.

For around $150, you can get a multi-STD home testing kit.

Convenience

The sampling and test process is quick and convenient, allowing even those with busy schedules to take an STD test with no problem.

Cons

Unreliable results

The biggest problem with home STD test kits is their unreliability.

Since the samples are not taken and handled under strict hospital lab conditions, it is possible that the results could be compromised. This can lead to a false test result.

Lack of counseling

Additionally, providers of these test kits lack the option of professional counseling.

If you need professional guidance after the test, the only option is to find a doctor, something you wanted to avoid in the first place.

Where To Buy A Home STD Test

I recommend buying your at-home STD test online from Amazon.com. Most local drugstores carry some home test kits, but the selection on Amazon is the best.

2. Online Test Labs in Dallas (100% Confidential)

Another very convenient alternative to a hospital visit is using an online STD test lab.

In Dallas, online STD test labs have become very popular due to their affordability and the privacy they provide.

Pros

Affordable

Most online STD test labs in the Dallas-Ft Worth area charge $100 to $300, which is far less than you would pay for a test in a hospital or through a doctor’s prescription.

Convenient

If you have a busy day planned, five minutes is all you need to set aside for the test.

Once you order the test online, submitting a sample at a local lab takes five minutes and is totally confidential.

Confidentiality Assured

Confidentiality is a major focus of online STD test providers, who go to great lengths to keep details of their customers under lock and key. For example, when you arrive to have a sample drawn, you present them with a code, not your name.

Accurate Results

Testing is conducted under the same lab conditions as a hospital or medical lab. There is far less risk of false positives or negatives than using a home test kit, the only cheaper option.

Counseling Is Available

If you require medical advice on next steps after receive your test results, many online STS test labs offer free counseling from a medical professional. This is completely optional.

Cons

Other than expense, there really isn’t anything bad to say about online STD tests. They fulfill every requirement; reliability, affordability, privacy and convenience.

They do, however, cost more than a home test kit.

How An Online STD Test Works

The first thing is to look for a provider. There are two excellent recommendations below.

Order the test online, after which you will be asked to give a sample at a nearby lab.

After two to three days, you can access your results online.

If you wish to receive your test results sooner, it is possible but it will require an extra fee.

3. Free STD Testing in Dallas

Get HIV TestedDespite the common perception, free STD testing clinics are not of a lower quality than hospitals. Their testing is just as quality and results just as reliable.

The obvious advantage here is that you pay nothing, although some clinics can charge a small fee, often below $50.

The biggest downside of free STD testing clinics is that your anonymity is not protected.

Most clinics also require individuals who have been tested to undertake mandatory counseling, too.
